Two farmers, along with one VIStA team member, participated
in the training conducted by the Central Institute for Medicinal and
Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) from 28 to 30 November 2005. The training was
most informative. When the certificates were being distributed, we asked
CIMAP whether they would take up our village (Chitlamkunta) under their
project ‘Productivity of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants’.
They agreed to take up Chitlamkunta under their project and as a first
step in this programme they asked us to identify twenty responsible women,
who were members of Self Help Groups. The twenty women were identified
during a Federation meeting conducted on 5 December 2005. Around twenty-five
women were given CIMAP training, of whom fourteen agreed to take up seed
multiplication work.
